Paint worn off on roof

2012 Toyota Tundra - purchased used.  Roof over cab has paint that is worn
off, no rust yet but I suspect a matter of time. Almost to bare metal, I think they
had a cargo box or something that wore off the pain. Any way to coat this with
something to protect it?  I asked at a body shop and it's $1500 to repaint and
seal it.

You could try waxing it, but I suspect paint is the best way to fix it.
