My key won't work to start my car

Please ... be specific. Does the key fit in the lock, does the key turn in the lock, does the key engage the starter and the engine won't start?

The key will go in the ignition but it won't turn. It feels a bit loose. after I put the key in you can't turn it. It's like it's locked

It could be the linkage that disables the gear selector and steering wheel ...do what T_S_T said and also try wiggle the gear . This may be a long shot but , do you think it's possible your car was tampered with?

you have to turn the steering wheel. My car just did that today

For some reason the keys on the versa wear out. You will need a new key cut by the key code and programmed to the vehicle.

Just dealt with this problem a few minutes ago. My problem was that the key was twisted slightly. This is probably due to my wife struggling to unlock the trunk with a worn key. I took a pair of pliers and twisted the key in the direction I felt was correct. Car started right up. See if your key can unlock the other locks around the car. If it's a struggle then clean and straighten the key. Use two quarters and a pair of pliers. Hope this helps to eliminate one possibility.

Just happened to me! After reading this thread I learned it was because my steering wheel was turned so I just had to turn it straight then the key turned!

Same here but key was clearly worn . So graphite new key and only park with straight wheel now .

I had this same problem. Nissan took my perfectly straight and brand new key and when I came back to picky car up they handed me a bent key and told me it was my key since it was bent. Unbelievable liars. Who in their right mind would put one lock on a car? The morons make you pay over $100 for a key that you will have to replace yearly. Hell of a way to make profit from their customers. My driver's side lock won't work anymore so I had to climb over the back seat everytime. I wanted to get into my car. Had to leave one of the doors u locked at all times. Is this the kind of far age Nissan is making now?

Wow this just happened to me this morning I went to start the car but the key would not Turn I tried wiggling the wheel from left to right and it still wouldn’t turn then I end up locking the wheel so I had to tell the car to Nissan of Sacramento so hopefully they have good news for me

Have the same issue. Found two fixes. One is completely free just remove some screws and find a old useless key to cut off (not the chip key for the car). Second cost about 10 bucks unless your like me and have the stuff laying around. can make my email available and can discuss in detail if anyone is still suffering with this issue and don't want to get robbed by buying a new key for hundreds.
