Water collecting where do I go next.

Asked by GuruPHV8 May 05, 2017 at 11:48 AM about the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have water collecting some where in the front of the dashboard area on the
right side.  I can hear it sloshing around. Recently replaced the windshield so
I Took it to the windshield place they did water test and do not know what it
could be. Never leaked before.  Carpet is saturated. What could have
caused this?  Is this a common problem with this model? What should I do
next?  Where should  I go next?

Well, you need to determine if it is just water, or coolant. From seeing many windshields put in, that is not the likely cause. If it is rain water, the place you had the windshield put in would have check the covers on the bottom of the windshield that they were put in right, but even so, it wouldn't be from that cover, it would be from a seem under that cover at the bottom of the windshield. A pre-exsisting condition.

Have you been running the A/C? There is a drain that lets condensation drain to the ground near firewall/rear or front right tire area, see it its clogged up.

You may need to get a repair manual to find your drain(s) as I do not find a specific to your model drain location. You may be able to look under it and find it that way and work back upward to the rest of it.

Jeep is known for these issues but any can have this issue as the vents between wind-shield and hood are the vents for the a/c/ & fresh air. Which is also the location that collects tree litter.
