Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving my 1997 Ford Thunder Bird Lx
down the road and the car just shut down.
Nothing works on it now except the starter.
Saying it will try to start but you can tell it
isn't firing. Any ideas? Had it towed home.

So you have no electrical power except to the starter? Is the fuel pump priming when you turn the key to on?

It was missing of and on before this happened. Once it would get lined out it was ok. Sometimes it would loose power other times it was fine

When you first turn on the key listen to see if you hear the fuel pump briefly turn on. Keeping the driver's door open when doing this may be helpful. If you don't hear the fuel pump then either the fuel pump, inertia switch, wiring or fuel pump relay is likely to blame. Also you can squirt a small amount of starting fluid in the intake while cranking the car to see if it tries to start. If it tries to start then you likely have a fuel system issue.
