2010 Volvo S 80 whistling sound when in motion
I have a 2010 Volvo S 80, 168,000 mi, runs great. Over the weekend started with a whistling sound coming from dash area only when the car is in motion, turn heater fan on or off makes no difference. Help?
Whistling as you hear it is usually caused by a vacuum leak. As this happens only when car is in motion, this points to the cruise control unit. While moving over 30 mph, put the trans in neutral and rev the engine hard. does the whistle stop? Then let off the accelerator; does the whistle get louder? If yes, you have a vacuum leak. If not, could be a leak in the windshield sealant.
Thank you very much, I did as you described, it does not change the whistle at all, but I did notice one thing. It was warmer this weekend here than it has been in months, the whistle was quieter, to the point that I had to turn the radio completely off to hear it at some points. We also alternated turning on the fans (heat and air) and turning off, this made no difference either.
Can you still drive the car with the whistling sound?
