Blown engine replacement

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I have a 2010 subaru Forrester with a blown 2.5 engine, I am trying to figure
out what year subaru I can do a direct swap out with.
I have my eyes set on a 2005 subaru forester 2.5 engine, will that work?

Have you found an answer yet? I also have a 2010 forester that I’m looking for a motor for and can’t seem to get any definitive answers on swap outs.

There several dealers on the west coast that import used engines from Japan and test and resell. Japan has a very strict policy on car road life so they remove engines with 60,000 miles on em and send em to LA. Google around you should find it. cheers, miller
