2000 accord won't start

Asked by JJ2000accord Nov 12, 2016 at 06:29 PM about the 2000 Honda Accord

Question type: General

Have had no problems starting, all of a
sudden I try to start, and key just turns,
nothing happens, battery is good, radio and
lights and everything work, it doesn't even
try to start, mechanic said it prob ignition
switch, he could replace it for $500, but
wouldn't be able to reprogram I would have
to take it to honda to be programmed, I just
need it to start, it's old work car, Honda
service gave me same price, I have found
other sites showing how to replace this, and
part is only bout $100, any help or advice
would be greatly appreciated, also I noticed
with key in ignition and door open, annoying
key dinging reminder wasn't sounding, I
wiggled key and it would come on and off
