Need buy or not to buy!?!

Asked by Mar 31, 2018 at 01:05 AM about the 1972 Volkswagen Super Beetle

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Someone near me is selling his 1972 Super Beetle
Convertible for $5000. She says it needs a new
brakeline and some tlc. Apparently this model is
the last year VW had the "flat windshield". Don't
know much else about it. Need advice on what
questions I need to ask and what would make it
worth the $5000, or is the price way over market
value? Here's a pic of it.

Additional info....73000 miles and manual transmission. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Tks

Should you buy it? Up to you if you like working on cars. I see the beetle is in the snow, so probably more rust than under the headlight. It's missing a few pieces from looking at the pic. Headlight bezels, bumper. etc. I assume it runs OK? I'd check the floor boards and if it looks good and rust should be minimal. I would say it's in Fair condition so the guides price it in the avg range of $3000-3500 range. Talk them down if your serious.

Agree with above, if that is all that is wrong with it.
