'78 Super Beetle Convertible in somewhat poor condition worth?

Asked by Feb 15, 2016 at 10:02 AM about the 1978 Volkswagen Super Beetle

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I'm trying to buy this '78 Super Beetle Convertible from a family who bought it
new in '79.  They aren't enthusiasts, so they naturally think it's worth more
than it is.  It looks appealing to the eye, but a closer look shows that just about
every part of the car needs some kind of attention.  Pans and rails are gone,
and the rear fenders have rust, but engine runs nice.  Odometer stopped 10
years ago at 46k, but hasn't been driven much at all in that time.  Interior is
fair.  Top is torn.  Various dings and dents.  How much should I pay?  Thanks.

From your description, sounds like it is in poor to fair condition, range would be $1200-$3500. No more than $2K IMO.
