tire and rim size options for 1999 sierra 1500 crew cab

I want to get a bigger rim and tire combination than the stock 17' wheels that came with the truck.  I don't want to buy a tire with a small sidewall which I believe will make the ride rought.  What is the biggest rim size an tire size cimbination I can put on this truck?

you can go to a 24 inch wheel,but no sidewall,the ride wont be as rough as you may think.
