High beam problem

Ok. I have a 99 Ford Mustang with Xenon 8000k bulbs. One night I drove a friend home. I had my high beams on. When we stopped at her house, I forgot to turn them off when I shut the car off. When I turned the car back on to leave her house, the high beams came on for about a second. Then the lights went dark. My parking lights and low beams work but not the high beams. I've checked the fuses and the bulbs. Both are perfectly fine. Any ideas on what is wrong with my car? Thanks for the help. :)

It could be the high beam relay. Sometimes it can be the hi/low beam switch. The wiring could have overheated and burned through , or rubbed through , causing an open circuit. You will need a wiring diagram to sort out what is involved in activating the high beams and go from there .
I would check the hi/low beam switch first. It's apparently your problem. And remember not to start the engine with the lights on. Hope this help.

Its not a good idea to use any type of bulb other than what is rated by Ford. Xenon bulbs can and will melt wiring and relays. Also can distort headlight lenses. I work for a Ford dealer and see it all the time.

I have a 06 ford mustang and my high beams went out I've changed the relays and the switches has anyone else had this problem
