Protection from lemons

If I'm about to purchase a car through CarGurus
from a private owner , do I get protection from
buying a lemon ?

Unfortunately, I would say no. Even if you buy a auto repair maintenance policy, there is no guarantee you will have a trouble free car. As they say, Buyer Beware.
