Won't keep an idle when starting in cold weather

Asked by David Nov 03, 2015 at 01:39 PM about the 2001 Dodge Durango

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2001 dodge durango, doesn't want to keep an idle during start in cold
weather, but once the weather warms up it fires right up so far. don't know
the cause. I've tried to rev up during start but it quickly dies, sounds like its
not getting any fuel. only happens in cold weather (that's the mystery) . No
check engine light, had to replace the starter because of constant starting
(it crapped out one day when I left the vehicle outside) . I've researched
and asked around and got alot of possibilities, I don't want to be chasing
(and replacing) parts and not fix the problem. Any similar cases? if so, what
was the fix? I am leaning towards the IAC.....? Please help...

I've heard of so many people wasting money buying this and that and still have no luck with fixing the problem, won't idle after start up. Cold , warm , doesn't matter. Get a can of choke and carb cleaner and spray clean the inside of the throttle body paying close attention to the rear of the bores( holes down into the throttle body) unhook the negative battery cable for a couple minutes to reset computer. Reinstall the neg. Cable and start. Should run like a new car!! Please let me know if this works for you planeguy1968@gmail.com. I also know a trick for fixing a heating problem on these too. Thanks people
