I have a 2000 Honda civic with a s4c transmission and when I go 2 put it in gear it won t go and when I shut it off and put it in gear it tries 2 move forward slightly what causes this

when I go 2 put my car in gear it won t go when running but shut it off and put it in gear and then try 2 start it it moves forward a bit

your about out of dot 3 in your clutch reservoir under hood, maybe even a failing slave cylinder at bell.
