How to drain gas tank

Since the outlet is on top, the only way to drain it while it is still in the car is to pump it out. Remember, you are working with fuel and only pump in a well ventilated area with a sparkless or manual (not electric) pump. Be sure to ground the tank/car and the pump (as well as yourself) to prevent sparking an explosion. Be very careful. Instead, you could drop the tank from the car to remove the fuel but the same cautions exist.
