If you Ford Explorer does not have a dip stick to check it, you have to put it in from the side of the transmission. And yes that means crawling underneath and pumping it in till it begins to run out. If it has a dip stick, you put it down the same hole as the dip stick.

If you do not have a dipstick, look on the bottom side of the tranny pay for a drain/fill nut configuration. View the net on how to do the procedure. If you don't have a dipstick, how do you know you need fluid. If there is a visible leak, that's one thing.
