will a battery that is 8 3/8" high be too high for a 2003 taurus

when I get in the battery box and pull down the hood to measure the distance so that doesn't happen, it's too dark to read what's left of my 1' ruler. P.S. 12'' is too high

Leave the hood open and use a straight edge to approximate the hood and measure to that.

Just put the proper size battery back in it and problem solved.

Correct battery is best answer but if it is a budget problem and you have a battery now, put it in the battery box and put some Styrofoam on top of the terminals then gently shut the hood. If the Styrofoam is dented, DON'T USE THE BATTERY.
