My car has every mechanic stumped!!!

Asked by Sep 21, 2016 at 04:39 PM about the 2008 Mercury Mountaineer

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'll start off by saying everything is new in my car. It
has been to 3 different mechanics. It will shut off
after driving it (long or short periods) and won't
start for at least 45 mins. They've run tests and
can't find anything wrong. The electric still comes
up when I turn the key.

It sounds like the mechanics you have taken it too just don't want to spend the time to get it in failure to trace out the problem. Find a shop that pays their Techs by the hour and not by flat rate, flat rate Techs just want to get it in and get out ASAP so they can get right to the next one so they can make money as quickly as possible, they just won't take the time to get a rig to fail if it won't do it in the first 1/10 of the hour, they done with it.

I had the same trouble years ago that no one could figure out.. I figure it and found my fuel pump was not putting out enough pressure all the time.
