heh no not waterpump thats fine andits about $30 ...on most engines this part is apart of the block it self ..if it was a waterpump i could get that at autozone i know cuz thats wat we thought the leak was so we took it off and it was fine so we replaced the gasket and put it back on but it still leaked the coolent came out as fast as we put it in ..thats why its giving me so much trouble..

This is the thermostat housing. By the looks of the picture the reason the housing was leaking after you replaced the gasket is because you didn't clean the old gasket. You need to make sure both surfaces, the block surface and the housing surface are completely clean before you install the new gasket.

the part has a crack in it and its all rusted out thats why its leaking, i need a new part. when i was talking about the new gasket i was talking about the water pump when we thought it was that.but i just need to find a replacement part (the one in the first pic) i cant find it because when you type in thermostat housing only the top part comes up on any list .

Try Classic Industries. I have the 09' catalog and they have a thermostat housing for the 62-72 L6. It looks exactly like the picture you posted so it may be the same part. I'll post a picture from the catalog. I went to their website and couldn't find the part but it is in their catalog.

Or you could try to clean it realy good (oil, old gasket, grease, grime)using kerosene then wash with dish soap, the apply JB Weld cracks to seal up. Or you can get in touch with Paddocks performance parts and restoration plus go here ..... http://www.paddockparts.com/paddock/assets/html/homepage.asp

I would also recommend checking at a wrecking lot. They can quite often find you very good used parts for a fraction of the cost of a new or re-manufactured part.

Found one for my 78 nova for around 20 bucks at pik n pull. I Advise u just check out any inline 6's or look for the old chevy's with similair set-up.
