Power window stuck until I turn off car then re-start

Asked by Tom Jan 27, 2019 at 04:12 PM about the 2005 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi all. About 1/20 times, my driver-side power window won't go back up. But if
I turn off ignition, then turn on again, it works perfectly.

Does anyone have any suggestions to fix / troubleshoot?

Thanks

Pop the door panel off and check the switch. You’ll need a DVOM to check voltage and resistance when the switch is in certain positions. But the very first thing I would do is check for a broken wire between the switch and the window regulator motor. It’s common that it breaks in the harness at the inner door frame. If you need specs on expected voltages and resistance let me know
