Engine life?

Asked by carlsonmjjm Apr 22, 2011 at 05:46 PM about the 2005 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

We are looking at a 2005 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS with 100,000 miles. I am a little concerned about the longevity of the engine, as it is a 4 cylinder? Is this something I should be concerned about? We are getting it for our 16 year old son with the idea that it will last him through college.

there are several determining factors as to whether or not this car will hold up. Subaru's are known for their long lasting engines. If the oil is changed at normal intervals, the fluids are kept toppped off, and the price is right, I see it as the perfect college car capable of going 300 + thousand miles. Please award points if this helps. I would have your personal mechanic give it a once over

I always use Mobil1 extended service oil and never had an engine problem. I own many vehicles.
