Car will not hold charge

I have a Saturn Vue 2003 the car is dead I got a jump and it when the car is turned off it will not start wthout a jump.

I took it to Auto zone to be tested the charge was at a 12 they told me it should be at 600 so I stated why not replace thye then stated to me that it may be the wire connection. i ask if it was the alternator they stated no.

Ok I will try that. could they be saying htat it only had 12amps left because i don't know what he was talking about either no clue

I have a question, dose the 2008 Saturn veu have an altenator ? Where would it be located.
