Electrical issues

Asked by RickMeyers Sep 23, 2018 at 01:09 AM about the 2003 Saturn ION 3

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving and all of the lights and radio went out. My blinker didn't work
either. Stopped to check the exterior lights and when I got back in the car it
would not let me put it in gear. On the dash, a prompt saying, service vehicle
and power steering came on as well as my brake light on the dash. Power to
windows and locks went out. The key didn't want to come out either.
Anyone ever experience anything like this and know the problem?

It sounds like a low voltage problem. Does it stsrt? You may have a bad alternator or bad grounds check engine to chassis ground.

It started last night. I'm driving out to it soon to check it and I will be sure to check that when I get there. Thank you!

Did you ever figure this out? We just bought a 2003 Ion2 and have been having the same thing, at very intermittent times. Horn will toot, wipers go nuts, all interior lights will go out, hazards will come on, and then the turn signal stopped working. Then, as if nothing ever happened, it was fine. Every time we’ve had the issue we’ve been coming to a stop. Never happens when we’re just driving at a constant speed or idling. Very frustrated!
