There is no maximum mileage. Most cars are manufactured to run to 100,000 miles without major maintenance. You should go to the local Saturn dealer and ask for the maintenance schedule. Then go over it with your mechanic to see what the price of maintenance repairs are going to be over the 4 year payment period. Factor that into your budget leaving some extra for possible unexpected repairs and then make your decision if its a good deal for you.

I dont think there are any Saturn dealerships around anymore since they dont make Saturns. The following link will give you a good idea what ownship may be like and what kinda miles you could expect: http://www.edmunds.com/saturn/ion/2006/consumer-reviews.html?sub=coupe

Well on a quick search of a 500 mile raidius I could only find one with over a 100k mile for sale which would make me wonder why there arent more higher milage cars listed. Also according to cargurus priceing the one your looking at seems to overpriced comparded with my local comps here in FL. Unless the car looked flawless I would probly keep looking. The average lifetime milage is not stated any where online for these cars, so theres no definitive number however all the ones listed for sale in my area have under 100K miles if that means anything.

I have a 2003 Saturn ION 3 that has 129,855 miles on it and it is still runs fantastic. Before we purchase it my co-worker had one with over 150,000 miles it was about 6 or 7 years old.

Nice to see this forum is still going... just like my '05 Saturn Ion. It has 143k and is still running strong with no major issues. Thanks to the one commenter who posted that his saturn has 238k; That's certainly encouraging to me. I just recently switched to using only Mobile 1 High Mileage, 15,000 mile oil. Seems to keep it running very smoothly. The oil is more expensive, but I get it changed less often than conventional oil (I do 10k instead of 15k like is recommended), but I still make sure to check it ever thousand miles just to make sure it's not burning up oil. So far, so good!

I have a 2006 ion 4 door with 59000 on the odometer. All these questions and answers have gave me great thoughts on mine. As for 4000 for one check the blue book . I think you all will find it’s only worth about 900 - 1000. Value.

Whatever people think of Saturns as a crappy car, dont know anything about cars. Yes they are cheaper - but they are GM and made well but cheaper. Same engine and transmission as other Chevy, Buick, Pontiac, Olds, etc.. the 2.0, 2.2, and 2.4 all seem to make it over 260,000 no problem. If a car leaves you stranded, you probably failed to do basic preventative maintenance because your pea brain tells you if it's not broke dont fix it.

The Ion Redline is supercharged. Same engine as the Chevy Cobalt but the Ion is lighter and faster. Faster than any other car in its class. I used to go to the street races when I bought it new, it wasnt even fun anymore beating everything. Every P.O.S Honda left in the dust so far it wasnt even like a race. With little money you can bring the Horsepower up to 300 and the car is mostly plastic.. Most people dont know about them, including the mustang owners that get left in the dust with their mouths open
