Knock sensor codes and electrical

Asked by bethy7872 Mar 28, 2019 at 07:25 AM about the 1999 Lexus ES 300 FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car was throwing knock sensor
codes P0325 and P0330. Check
engine light on. Car radio
intermittently goes off then
comes back on and when that
happens dash lights will sort of
flicker and if headlights are on,
they will turn off then comes right
back on, and the car will start to
hesitate or sputter during this.
Replaced both sensors and wiring
harness. Found a rats nest
underneath the intake manifold.
After replacing sensors and
harness, codes are still there but
with them are now P0171 and
P0420. And since all of this
started overdrive is having issues.
Is it all related to one problem?
I've been told it's probably
electrical

Yes, the same issue...Toyota 1MZFE early ( ES's) engine always has this problem if you didn't use OEM Toyota Knock sensors and change the harness at the same time it's not uncommon to have redo the repair, the codes will remain along with the transmission lockout of overdrive... which is LIMP mode. Purchase the factory parts be sure to replace the Knock sensor harness too. Repeat the repair.
