1993 trans problem

Asked by grizz Jun 03, 2011 at 03:57 PM about the 1993 Lexus ES 300 FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

the norm/ power button doesn't change and at 65mph , my rpms are a little over 4000.
I'm thinking its stuck in power. I just bought it and don't have any history of the car.  Looks like there should be an indicator near the upper right corner of the shifter which is also missing.  Is this related ?
How di I get it back to economy mode? Thanks

the trans wasn't shifting into 4th gear. I found that this is pretty commom and the trans shops fix lots of them. expect to spend about $700. to $1000 bucks. If you don't already own one, RUN away and find something else. The only thing more expensive is a boat.
