Start a new Ford Explorer question.

Asked by Randy Oct 29, 2015 at 05:23 AM about the 1995 Ford Explorer 4 Dr XLT 4WD SUV

I want to start off by saying thank you Danny and RV 63, I don't if you
remember you were helping me figure out why my Explorer would
run for months and then 3-4 days not at all then run again for a year
the same thing over and over. You suggested that I put in a new fuel
filter and I finally did yesterday but it did not start right away it crank
strong as always busy not start I checked the gas tester on top of the
motor it was getting gas there. So off and on I  tried to start it has
strong crank and that is all. I gave up  lt set over night and this
morning fired right up. I drove it around, parked it .it has been
starting all day, could there have been a delay of some kind with gas
getting to the injectors or? A neighbor suggested unplugging the
crank shift senser cleaning it and plugging back in? I already got got
new plugs a long with the oil kit. Thanks morganrr

Possible air working threw fuel system, at this point see how it acts. May need to check fuel pressure, if problem still arises.

Thanks for your help. It started first this morning, I go back to go to class no start ? It has to be something easy, but what could it be? I am putting new plugs in tomorrow.I bought it new in 1993.5 it got same plugs I think.I always paid my garage to take care of

In a situation such as yours, an intermittent problem, the only day it can be diagnosed is to perform checks when the vehicle is in failure mode. Checking the fuel pressure when engine is off but key on is one procedure. (requires a gauge and fitting costing maybe 20 bucks or so) the second is an HEI spark detector to check for fire at each plug, cost about ten bucks.
