periodic passenger seatbelt chime goes off

I have a new 2022 Subaru Outback and periodically I get a chime and the
passenger seatbelt icon lights up and the seat is not occupied.

This is most likely still under warranty so get it back to the dealership ASAP.

Do you have something sitting on the seat? If you do the system may "think" someone is sitting there because there's a weight sensor in the seat. Hope that helps! Jim

Thanks everyone- I had my very small light purse on the seat so I will try to keep it off and see what happens, in the meantime I am calling the dealer tomorrow since this is brand new and there may be a problem with the sensors.
