Can parts for 1999 Sunfire be used for 1997 and 2001 sunfires?

Asked by jackygirl Mar 25, 2007 at 08:03 AM about the 2001 Pontiac Sunfire SE Coupe

Question type: Car Customization

I was ripped off for 1500.00 buying a 1999 sunfirefor my son whos engine blew within 2 days.  I own a 2001 sunfire, and now my son has bought a 97 sunfire.  Would it be worth it to keep the 1999 sunfire for parts? Can the parts be used for both the 97 and 2001?

One more small question, my 2001 front right strut makes a horrible squeeking noise. It's been lubed before, but keeps coming back, Can the parts on the 99 sunfire be used to fix the 2001 strut? If not, how pricey to fix a strut?
Thanks

I would say that the parts could be used for the other two vehicles. As for the strut, i would say that yes the parts should be interchangeable. Not too much changed for those model years so they should work.
