First thing to do is to fill it with oil. Then try to start it and see what happens. If it only ran a very short time before the oil light came on and it shut down, you may have been saved a large bill. If it starts, watch the exhaust for evidence of oil burning. This would indicate piston or ring problems or, possibly, the necessity of a rebuild. Valve and head problems are also possible. Also, if it runs, look for the cause of it running dry to determine whether you want to keep it.
