2005 Front End - Please Help....

Asked by Shawn Jun 23, 2013 at 05:10 PM about the 2005 Pontiac G6 GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Alright, everybody on here and their grandmother knows about the issue with the '05-'07
G6s at this point, no doubt. My mother has the car, and it could likely be in my name
soon. As a result, I'd like to get this figured out. I will be taking the vehicle for a drive
myself tonight, planning on an hour drive, probably half highway, half city, to see
exactly how it feels behind the wheel.

In the past three years, the tie rod ends and steering (i?) column have been replaced,
as well as the rack and pinion if I'm not mistaken. We've dumped about $4k into the
car, despite it only having 42k miles, less than 10k highway, as my mother does not
drive on the highway.

Is it something to be concerned about? If I drive it and determine I can deal with the
issue, do I just not worry about it? Is it a safety hazard? Finally, given what's been
replaced, what steps can I take to solve the issue. FYI, I am not mechanically inclined.
I greatly appreciate any help in this regard, thanks!!!

The front end apparently has a rattle and vibratio., my apologies, Ive been under the impression that this a very commonly known issue in these vehicles. For the record, front ball joints, shocks, struts, steering shaft, and tie rod ends have all been replaced less than 6 months ago, and the issue is persisting, apparently. Parked at the moment, but driving shortly
