Question type: General

I have a 96 Ford Explorer 4wd with 5.0L and
my girlfriend has a 97 Ford Explorer 2wd but

Both explorers are in the same generational family. If your girlfriend's vehicle is a v8 as your is, probably. If a V6, I do not think so.

Check on the sticker on the inside drivers side door jam when you find tire pressure etc. On the bottom of the sticker they usually have the model of the transmission next to a listing "trans". It may be in code form, but if they are the same, you're good to go.

There are also sites on the web where you can plug in the entire VIN for both vehicles and it will indicate all the different options the vehicles was equipped with.
