Transmission options

Asked by Captahab68 Sep 03, 2020 at 08:54 PM about the 2020 Honda Ridgeline RTL AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've read that the ridgeline comes with a 6 cyl transmission ad that there' a 9
speed as an option on the 2020.  But today a salesman told me the 2020
COMES with the 9 speed only.  1 is that true - and 2 is the 6 or thr 9 better or
more reliable?

Also - is the 4WD or AWD any better or worse than the other for someone
who does NOT intend going off road.?

F-O-R ... Thanks for the reply, but why would AWD be any better than 4WD in the snow? With the 4WD option, one could get better gas mileage, and still have the availability of switching to 4WD in case of snow!

The Honda is AWD not 4WD meaning system is always active. However it uses front wheel drive until it senses wheel spin and adds rear wheels only when needed. This means it is basically a FWD vehicle until conditions require AWD.
