1994 nissan d21 hardbody xe 4x4 with 2.4L

You're not pumping any gas it doesn't have a carburetor , sounds like a IAC valve thing or intake leaks , no one here can trouble shoot it over the internet . What do the plugs look like ? Are the plug wires worn out ?

plug wires are new along with plugs, new fuel filter an air filter.. just explaining what i have to do to make it start.. after it sits after driving it... first time owning one see alot of people having other issues just didnt want to throw parts at it if someone else had the same issue... beatupchevy

check out the injector(s) , try an octane booster/injector cleaner in the gas ,, spray some carb cleaner down the throttle , like I said sounds like an IAC valve thing , look for broken vacuum lines , TBI unit could have crud in it's ports from 28 years of driving

A 28 year old vehicle is bound to have issues. My first guess would be leaking fuel injectors. If they continue to drip after the engine is shut off you will have a flooded condition when you go to restart it again. When the vehicle sits for an extended time period, like overnight, the gasoline will evaporate and the flooded condition will have resolved itself by the time you go to restart it. Instead of pumping the accelerator pedal, which does nothing on a fuel injected engine, try holding the pedal to the floor. That will put the computer in clear flood mode. Of course that's just one possibility. You could also have a sensor or sensors that shift in value when they get hot and make the engine difficult to start after being driven. My first suspect there would be the coolant temperature sensor. Hope that helps! Jim

Js08016 thanks for the helpful information. i'll be checking those next time i have the hood up on it. uts just my hunting truck but like to keep it in running order. and for its age its actually in great shape. older gentleman owned it up until i got it. so it was generally taken care of very well.

it was and injector, and the little fusbile link on the positive battery cable that was causin a hard start up and crappy idle till it ran for few mins
