Heat would not switch to defrost, machanic said it
was the acuator , which he said they don't make
any more, and no after market parts are made, any
suggestions

Try this site: https://www.nissanpartsdeal.com/parts-list/1995-nissan-300zx/heater-blower-unit.html - if you absolutely can't find the part, you could always switch it to a cable setup like the earlier Nissan models had.
