Asked by tandccat Aug 01, 2022 at 01:45 PM about the 1965 Chevrolet Bel Air Station Wagon RWD

Question type: General

My son & Grandson recently purchased a 1965 Chevy Bel Aire Station Wagon.
The cowl tag has QQ in the position that is supposed to be the "date code"
Does anyone know what this is supposed to mean?

Can you post a picture please. The date code on the trim tag, which is what I believe you're referring to, is on the upper left corner of the tag. It will have a letter and two numbers. 04B or B04 would be the second week of April, 1965. 11C or C11 would be the third week of November, 1964. I think what you're looking at are the accessory codes. Such as maybe air conditioning, or power windows, thongs like that. But a picture of the tag will be very helpful. Hope that helps! Jim

Hmmmmm, I've never seen that before. This is a break down of the tag from my 1967 Fisher Body Manual. I realize your car is a '65 model but this is the closest thing I have and it shows a 1965 trim tag. So apparently nothing changed from '65 to '67, which is good! Check out GM Media Archives' website. They have a wealth of historical GM information and the downloadable information is free. You can also visit Allied Vaughn's website and if 1965 is available you can get a copy of the original factory to Dealer invoice for your exact car, for a fee. Hope that helps and I'll be curious to hear what you find out! Jim

Jim, we received some feedback on another site about the QQ date code. This person has been collecting data on these and this is the 15Th QQ car he has encountered. He did not have a lot of the details other than the fact it was produced in Nov during the time that the Tarrytown facility was on strike.
