Engine light won't clear

Asked by Guru93XD5M Mar 21, 2023 at 05:30 PM about the 2020 Nissan Maxima SR FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've had a check engine light for about a week.  Mechanic is working on it, but having trouble getting the light to clear.  They replaced a sensor related to the code and that did not clear the issue.   Is there an issue here that we need to know about or check into?

Sensor wiring and grounding checks from ECM to each sensor. If the wiring and grounds check then the ECM has been etched with the code, reflash might cure it but usually it takes a new computer.

If the CEL doesn't clear, I'm guessing that the mechanic hasn't fixed the problem causing it. Maybe he replaced the sensor, but maybe that wasn't the problem in the first place. Bad wiring or connections could be the actual cause. Or something else in the system.

Sounds like you need to replace the mechanic. A 3 year old vehicle that's probably still in warranty should go back to the Dealer for repairs!! Jim
