I have a 1999 frontier,the lighter is shorting out the tail lites. I want to replace the lighter. How do i do that?

The lighter is shorting out the tail lights, and needs replacement, I believe.How do I go about that repair. If  remove the fuse the lights work normally, when I return the fuse the lights won't turn off.

You must get a wiring diagram. It is difficult for me to believe that they would be on the same circuit but a diagram would confirm that. perform a continuity test to confirm that the lighter is bad.
