do you have to remove the cv shafts to remove the engine

yes and no. if you have a lift and plan to drop the engine throught the bottom, then no. all the powertrain and suspension can be unbolted and will come out at once. if you plan to hoist the engine out through the hood, then yes, CV removal is required. no offense, but if you have to ask that question, you probably shouldnt try this yourself.
