Why so many mid size cares with tiny engines?

For fuel economy. If the EPA keeps it up cars will have lawn mower engines.

fuel economy standards are tougher. direct injection gets more power too.

TY guys. Just seems like we r going backwards. Good friend's first car was the Honda CVCC with like 1200 cc. Not very crash friendly.

Cars are getting heavier and heavier due to safety requirements and engines are getting smaller and smaller due to economy requirements. Eventually cars will weigh 5 tons and be powered by a moped engine.
