Reporting bidders who vanish after bid is made and accepted

Asked by essex23 May 01, 2018 at 11:58 AM about the 2004 Nissan Xterra SE

Question type: General

I have recieved many bids from people making it seem as if they are interested in purchasing my vehicle, but each and every time I accept a bid, they buyer vanishes and will not respond to me after the fact.

Why is there no way to hold a bidder accountable for their bids?  I would think making an offer that is accepted here is no different than making an offer and having it accepted on a site like eBay.  An accepted bid/offer should be considered legally binding with ramifications or penalties for backing out.

Unless you enter into a legally binding contract with bidders you can't enforce anything at all.

Had the same experience with my car. Two so far made an offer which I accepted, then nothing, vanished. Means they are manipulators and their offer is a joke. Too bad I cannot see their full name or anything that identifies the person on their profile. Therefore to give some credibility to this -free and well appreciated service- I suggest CarGurus admin to start by blocking their account. The two I dealt with: Ismail david

I wish I only had to deal with 2 offers that vanished....sadly I have had 6 that did that.
