EL10-017 NTB10-079 June 22, 2010 MIL “ON” WITH DTC P0128 (THERMOSTAT FUNCTION) STORED APPLIED VEHICLES: 2002 and later Nissan vehicles IF YOU CONFIRM The MIL is “ON” with P0128 (Thermostat Function) stored. ACTIONS 1. Check to see if an aftermarket remote starter system is installed. • Remote starter systems may cause the MIL to illuminate and DTC P0128 to store. 2. If a remote starter system is installed, remove/disconnect it before performing diagnostic procedures on the vehicle. 3. Refer to ASIST and the Electronic Service Manual (ESM) for diagnostic information.

P0128 0128 Thermostat function The engine coolant temperature does not reach to specified temperature even though the engine has run long enough. Thermostat Leakage from sealing portion of thermostat Engine coolant temperature sensor

Thanks, Robert. Changed out the thermostats housing, replaced ECT Sensor and flushed radiator while I was at it. Everything runs fine and MIL went out. Now I have the timing chain or tension pulleys to deal with. Car sounds like a diesel (rattling noise) when started then subsides after few minutes. Will this hurt engine if I drive it long distances? What can I expect this repair to cost? Thanks, NolesFan
