Bought from Dealer on Car Guru that mislead mileage

Asked by Guru9Q5C9T Mar 04, 2022 at 02:43 PM about the 2020 Ford Explorer Hybrid Platinum AWD

Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

Just purchased a car from a dealer
on Car Guru. Mileage listed was
15,232, title just came before car
has arrived and mileage says
26,988. I have paid for car and
shipper will arrive today or
tomorrow. Is there anyway I can see
the original photos again to see if
they showed odometer? I'm so
upset I could fly to Iowa and smack
them.

just my opinion... I'm not much help, buy this can happen anywhere. as you can see in my profile, I have never purchased from dealer. I have always bought used and replaced plugs and gaskets/ oil/ filters on my own. Have very few issues. I am not afraid to buy a new motor if I feel I have to. I don't need a dealer to tell me ...oh, that's not under warranty AFTER they get my business. When I see a dealership has moved or gone under...it happens and I'm never crying about it. I did go to a dealer in Twin Falls Id to get a gasket replaced about of years ONLY because I was out of town and didn't have my own shop. I went to a shop in town and they tried IN VAIN to sell me coil overs INSISTING that was the problem. NO, the problem was a weak gasket and oil was shooting through it and into the plug well. They refused to understand this to get me to buy the CO's. It didn't work and I left with a replaced gasket and drive ALL they way back home with my kids. Garage full of idiots((. Sad

this can happen with any dealer, actually. That's why I don't buy from dealers. I have always bought used cars from people I know or classifieds. I posted another explanation but Car Gurus hasn't posted. I'm not sure why

You've been defrauded. The laws pertain to the state of origin, so you'd have to pursue satisfaction there; maybe ask the dealer for a compensatory refund. Otherwise, if you can cancel the deal, even if you have to pay for round-trip shipping, that might be best.

You can try googling the VIN and see if the Dealer's ad or at least the pictures from the ad will pop up. They might. If the actual mileage on the vehicle is what is stated in the ad, don't worry about it. But if the vehicle was misrepresented by the Dealer remember you have to go to where the Dealer is to file a complaint. Also, if you're concerned about the mileage matching what's actually on the odometer, don't be. Correcting something like this on a vehicle title will open up a can of worms that is better left alone especially if you bought the vehicle in another State. My advice is leave it alone and enjoy your new vehicle when it arrives! Hope that helps! Jim
