Acceleration problem

For some reason my Altima will not exceed 2,000
rpms when I put it in drive, and when I switch gears
it feels like my car jumps a bit. When I put my car in
neutral or reverse it does go past 2,000 rpms why is
this?

Could be the Throttle Positioning Sensor and wiring harness. Check the wiring harness by the plugin for internal broken wires. They make new plugins to splice in. The check engine light should be on, verify by getting it scanned for codes. This would point you in the right direction for repair.
