Yesterday I was driving and started to see smoke
coming from under the hood. The car started
jumping and I pulled over. When I opened the hood
coolant was spilling from the overfill so I filled the
radiator back up with water. I got back in the car
and drove a little further until I heard something
pop. I got back out and the radiator had blew. I am
going to replace the radiator but wanted to know if
it would just be a bandaid or if that would be it. Like
maybe something caused the car to over heat. If it
was low coolant levels then why did the radiator
blow after I refilled it? Thanks.

Take a look at the oil to see if it has water in it. A bad head gasket sometimes can overpressure the cooling system destroying the radiator. Not suggesting that this is your problem, but it is possible.
