Easily Chipped Paint

Asked by GuruHQNW9 Jul 27, 2019 at 01:32 PM about the 2019 Nissan Rogue SV AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2019 Rogue. I've had it for 2 weeks. It seems as
though the paint chips easily. I understand cars get
scratches when people open car doors and it bumps your
car but my Rogue isn't scratched the paint is chipped. It's
happened twice. I come out of a store and the paint is
chipped. This never happened with my Altima. Has this
happened to anyone else and can the dealer do something?

That looks more like a flying pebble or twig impact. A good layer of high quality wax can help with added protection.

Ed92626 which is what i said. I also do park carefully. I parked in between the lines right in the middle and away from any cars. A car came and parked by me. The paint shouldn't chip so easily. My Altima obviously was bumped by cars opening doors but the paint never chipped.

Nissan's quality has gone down. There is a reason why Nissan is laying off 12,500 people as stated in the news this week. Your car is under warranty, see if the dealer will help.

I recently purchased a 2019 Nissan Rogue with the same problem. There are literally chips at paint out all the way around the car. I had Independent Body Shop look at this car, and they said that every panel needs to be painted to the price of $6,500. I want to keep the car. I want Nissan to paint it instead. They're saying well just bring it back and will refund your money. That may sound great to some. But all we wanted for them to do is paint the car and they won't because it's not cost efficient they said. By the way, they said the paint cannot be touched up. It would not look good.

Thank you for your response. I wondered the same thing if they might know something I don't. I know it's very rare that a car dealership well offer you a full refund. I can't tell you how hard this is. I really like the car and shopped long and hard for it. I just wanted it painted but I must take your advice into consideration very seriously. Thank you.

My Rogue is a 2017 painted Palatial Ruby. The hood of my car from soon after I bought it looks like I parked it under a storm of rocks. Paint chips all over it. I've had it at the body shop but they said I have to open a claim with Nissan customer service. Just did that today. Waiting to hear back. I love the car but I've never had a paint job on any other car chip like this and I've paid most of my cars off and owned them several years after.

I too have a 2017 Palatial Ruby Rogue. It has paint chips on the hood, driver’s side door, and rear end. I questioned the dealership today and was told a claim could be opened but Nissan doesn’t cover paint chips. Has anyone had any luck with a claim? If so, what steps did you take? Advice you can offer?

I seem to be having the same problem with my 2018 in blue. I have seen other forums where people have not had good luck with the claim. I may still call and give it a try, however. The paint chips with the slightest tap. When I purchased the car as a certified pre-owned car it looked like they drove behind a truck of rocks, there were so many paint chips on the hood. I love the vehicle otherwise, I just want the paint to stop chipping.

I own a 2019 Rogue- I have had several small paint chips on the hood. I don't think they are all rock chips as we almost always drive on the highway and only have 14,000 miles on it. There are no dents- just real small chip places.

Fixing the chips in the photo will cost less than a grand. Just fix it and live a happier life.
