cant take transmission load when accelerating

it idles up and down      it wont and cant take the load from the clutch, when i try 2 take off it starts up but then it goes up and down in throttle   give it gas in neutral and it takes all the gas u give it.dont know what happen to it ole lady said it just wouldn't go. she said it was like it wasnt getting fuel or manaul trans went out maybe the clutch but the idle is wack  help me    THANKS DAVE
