Won't Start, Dash lights flicker and engine smoking, smells like electrical fire

Asked by Angela Jun 28, 2023 at 08:08 AM about the 2019 Hyundai Sonata SEL FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello, my 2019 Hyundai Sonata was driven this morning for about for about
80 miles round trip. There were no issues starting or running. At the end of
the trip, I parked and shut off the engine but then immediately needed to
move my car again. when I tried to start it, the dash lights flashed, engine
warning light stayed on and then it began smoking from the engine
somewhere. when I opened the hood to investigate, it seems that the smoke
was coming from the area in the center where the actual engine sits (not
near teh battery), coming up from the bottom on the right side (if your
standing in front with the hood open). I've had no luck trying to get it started
since. Just keep getting the flashing lights. Any help is appreciated!
