Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1997 ford explorer smokes
from passenger side of Motor. It
doesnt smoke all the time though,
just every once and a while. I
replaced the radiator, oil isnt milky
and there isnt any oil in radiator.
What could cause it to smoke?

Look for oil leaking from the valve cover on that side. A common problem especially with older cars. Easy to fix by replacing the gasket it screws down over. Do both the right and left sides when doing the one that is leaking. Remember to keep any contamanents like dirt and old gasket pieces from falling into the area under the cover and be sure to get all the old gasket material off before installing the new ones.
