Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Where should the needle be at at a normal running
temperature?
My gauge goes about 3/4 of the way up . Is it
running hot ? Shouldn't it go to halfway and stay ?

I have 5 cars that my family uses and all of their temp gauges all go to the halfway mark. How long do you have to drive til it gets to the 3/4 mark?

Well the curious thing is that there is no half way "mark" on a temp gauge from a 1990 Mazda B-2200 so my question remains is it at safe running temp if it's in between the high and low mark ?

No. The normal temp needle should ALWAYS go up to the middle and stay there. Any more than that should indicate the coolant temp is abnormally hot and something is wrong. My sis got back from a ~12hr drive in her 2001 civic and it didn't go past the halfway mark.
